Hong Kong Here I Come Again!
Turn the clocks back, roll back the years to another century---1984. Back when I was a fashion accessories designer with my own company. I was a young mum living in cool Primrose Hill before the celebs had moved in. Before we even used the word cool! I'd built a brand with blood sweat n tears. My designs were eventually worn by my contemporaries in almost every country. It was a true London rags to riches story about me turning rags into must haves, on the front cover of International Magazines. It was bought in the top boutiques in almost every capital in the world.
At that time there were only two Fashion Seasons, Winter & Summer. I'd board a flight on a world ticket twice a year to check out what everybody was wearing in Rome, Paris, New York, Tokyo and LA. I'd hit the discos, the shops, and sit watching the world go by from coffee shops. I was fashion watching and happy building my brand, Sarah-Lou Accessories. With all my ideas I'd run over to Hong Kong to explain them to machinists then watch my ideas turn into fashion items.
Next step came the exhibitions, Paris Pret a Porter, Milan, Tokyo, New York, showing the funny concoctions Hong Kong factories & some UK factories had made. We all had such fun. New fashions were bought by innovative, brave International buyers. Bought & Worn probably by the same people I'd seen on my research escapades in clubs & coffee bars.
It was hard work too, the first word my son spoke wasn't mummy, it was "Pawis" I expect he kept hearing me talk about Paris Pret Exhibition! Fast forward 30 years my baby boy is now 33 in his own Street Food business via Oxford. (Proud mum) I remember once flying from Tokyo & getting off the plane unable to remember the destination I'd arrived in. It was Hong Kong.

Times have changed but I don't feel as if I have, still having fun, working hard. One thing I hope has changed---I'm expecting to know where I am as I disembark! Hong Kong. Next week I'll be flying into Hong Kong again with more designs. This time they are just as unusual but they are cosmetics,
